Day 4: 40 Days of Thankfulness

I am so thankful for all my doctors but today I am thankful for Dr. Amir Al-Juburi who saved my life by removing my kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma). In 2006 I picked up my husband for a biopsy and took him to an outpatient surgical center. While I was there waiting for the …

40 Days of Thankfulness: Day Two

Today, I’m thankful for my “Cushie Car”. Since I started attending Cushing’s events, I’ve always tried to rent a PT Cruiser. There’s just been something about them that I liked. A couple of years ago, after my son was out of school, I was getting tired of driving the Mom-Carpool-Van everywhere. I think my …

40 Days of Thankfulness: Day One

Several years ago I decided to try Facebook’s 40 Days of Thankfulness and I’m going to post all 40 days here since I know that it will auto-post to Facebook and my blogs. Although I have had several problems in my life (and who hasn’t?), I’m sure I can come up with at least …

Not Friday the 13th This Year

Today, January 13, holds a couple anniversaries for me.  I remember the day of the Air Florida Flight 90 Crash in 1982 so well. We were living in the Metro DC area and our young son had just turned 2 in December.  Tom, my DH, worked in DC and I was never sure the route that …

Day 27: 40 Days of Thankfulness

Last Thursday, I had occasion to be very thankful for helpers, one of whom extricated my finger from the door of my car and others who supplied band-aids and Tylenol. I’ll probably write more about this later on my medical blog but it’s hard to type with a broken finger 🙁

Day 26: 40 Days of Thankfulness

Giving thanks to our Veterans today   I’m not sure how Veterans Day turned into a holiday and a day to sell stuff, but then, most every holiday has turned into a day for stores to run “sales”.  Possibly, the original intent was to give our veterans a break but it has sure morphed away …

I know I missed a couple posts but today’s is most important, so I’ll go back and get the others…later   Today I am so thankful that I had my best friend, my “sister” for so many years.  We shared so much together, good times, bad times, birthdays, secrets, hackers, PITAs. A couple of years …

Day 21: 40 Days of Thankfulness

It was a cold and rainy morning and my car wouldn’t start. Today, I’m thankful for AAA and its mobile app.

Day 24: 40 Days of Thankfulness

Today I am hugely thankful that the last major issue we had here was prostate cancer this summer.  I haven’t talked/written much about that because I want to be sure that the radiation and Lupron have done what they’re supposed to and this beast is gone. Before that the last major issue was in 2013 …

Day 23: 40 Days of Thankfulness

Our son Facetimes most every Sunday, just to chat. I am thankful that he’s doing so well for himself, has a wonderful new wife, has a good job, good friends, is a fine musician and that he’s not afraid to say he loves his parents.   We love you, too!
